FROM MONTANA TO OREGON. . . BOOKS, COMICS, AND THE WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT!

A BRIEF BIO

Born in Polson, Montana and raised in Bigfork, Montana, Andy Mangels always planned to be a comic book artist. While in college, he sold his first writing in the comic industry, and the emphasis for his career shifted to writing instead of art.

Today, living in Portland Oregon, Andy is the author of seven books (including two best-sellers), nearly a hundred comic books (including an award-winning anthology), and articles for entertainment and lifestyle magazines and newspapers in the United States, England, and Italy.

Andy has also written licensed material based on properties by Lucasfilm, Paramount, New Line Cinema, Universal Studios, Warner Bros., Microsoft, Abrams-Gentile, and Platinum Studios. His comic-book work has been seen from DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse, Wildstorm, Image, Innovation, WaRP Graphics, Topps, MVCreations, and others, and he was the editor of the award-winning Gay Comics anthology for eight years.

Andy is an activist in the Gay community, and in subgroups of that community including Leather and Bears. He has raised thousands of dollars for charities over the years, and has been been presented two national awards in honor of his work. His partner of eight years is Don Hood, the renowned tailor of "Creations by POOH" and community activist.

In what little spare time he has, Andy likes to go country dancing. He also collects uniforms, action figures, Boba Fett and Lynda Carter/Wonder Woman memorabilia, and DVDs.
