Dashing Through the Store
Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael (Sony DVD)
This collection of music videos is full of fond memories for most gay men, with 15-plus years of Michael's career represented. He is a consummate singer and performer, and his videos screamed gay sensibility (tight jeans, leather jackets, trendy hairstyles, high fashion, drag queens) long before he came out in a West Hollywood bathroom.

And speaking of that indiscretion, you also will get the uncut version of "Outside," Michael's love song to the cop who arrested him. With officers and bodybuilders kissing and a bathroom that turns into a gay disco, it's a classic camp romp. The DVD also features interviews and a discography.

The Sound of Music (Fox DVD)
Although not exactly a gay film, this classic musical is well-loved by queers everywhere. And this two-disc set will make a perfect gift for any theater queen.

Not only do you get a fantastic widescreen image of the film, you also get director commentary, Julie Andrews interviews, almost three hours of documentary footage, music outtakes, storyboards, sketches, photos and much more. Plus, with the captions on, you can practice for the Rocky Horror-like audience participation of "Sing Along with The Sound of Music" that's all the rage for camp followers and drag queens in London and New York-and coming soon in Portland. The Lonely Goatherd says, "Buy it now!"

trick (New Line DVD)
This frothy film almost could be called a "no-date movie," as its two leading characters spend the entire film trying to find a place to have their one-night stand.

Gabe (Christian Campbell) is neurotic yet cute as the lost-in-love romantic who has an annoyingly oversexed heterosexual roommate and a fag hag best friend (a hilarious Tori Spelling). The object of his affection is Mark (J.P. Pitoc), a stud who has more going on than just muscles and looks.

This is the kind of concept film that works great for gay audiences, and its witty humor crosses all gender lines. The DVD features a crisp widescreen print plus a trailer and cast/crew filmographies.
